Super Storm Sandy!

Sandy Hits the USA!

On Tuesday the super storm Sandy hit Manhattan, New York and the U.S.A. Here are some pictures that show you the damage and what has happened. Over 45 people have been found dead in their apartments by police, workers and rescuers Slowly things are going back to normal but there are still issues with power and transport. Also people are looting which  is basically shoplifting but when the power is out. Dead Vermin are being found on the ground and sea animals are getting stranded on the beach. It is estimated that it will take up to 20 billion dollars to replace and rebuild all of the damage.

Nasa Participants

Nasa Participants Arrive at Mamaku!!!

Last week on Monday, Mrs Corkill showed us the video of the American man jumping out of the space balloon. Since then, we have been researching an Astronauts life and creating a rocket to show off what we can do with information. We also created colourful Astronauts to go with the amazing rockets. If you would like to meet our guests come to Mamaku and say hi before they leave to go to the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!

FLOWER POWER!

In term 3 we drew some illustrations of flowers that we saw in photographs.Once we had done that we used lots of different pastels to create the colour in our flowers.We created these flowers because we were learning about shading.if you want to see more of our flowers come on down to Mamaku (room 8)!

In Mamaku, each week Miss Clement selects a vegetable that we have to write about or take a photo of, when it's in action. In week 1, our vegetable was: Tomato. This week it is: Carrot. Here is an example of an acrostic poem which Danielle created.

Room 8's cress

This is one of the amazing,fast growing cress!Room 8 has also got basil and purple carrots.We had a max of 8 to a group.We are also going to grow some.. Beans,Beetroot and more Purple carrots.
